Applicants wishing to apply for a visa, residence permit or family immigration may now use the Norwegian Application Portal. The new application procedure will result in shorter processing time as well as making it easier for applicants to re-apply for subsequent visas and residence permits.
If you would like to apply for a visa at the Embassy in Budapest, you may fill in the application form on the Application Portal, pay the application fee with a Visa or Master Card and print out the cover letter before submitting your supporting documents at the Embassy.
Following this you must book an appointment at the Embassy by e-mail or telephone. Please make sure that you have all supporting documents needed. Check the documents needed at www.udi.no and bring them in original together with the cover letter to the embassy.
It will still be possible to hand in paper applications. However, applicants who apply online will be given priority. Please note that the reference person in Norway can register and also pay online on behalf of the applicant.
If you are a citizen of an EU/EEA/EFTA country, you no longer need to apply for a residence permit, but you must instead register within 3 months of arriving to Norway. You can make a preliminary registration online.
This simplified registration process also extends to close family members of EU/EEA/EFTA citizens and to workers employed as service providers from EU companies who themselves are non-EU/EEA/EFTA citizens.
After having made the registration you have to report to your local police in Norway in order to complete the registration process.
Please note that the portal may be inaccessible for short periods of time due to maintenance or upgrades.
