The implementation phase of the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms in Hungary for the period 2009-2014 was launched on April 25. During this period over 150 million euros (around 40 billion HUF) will be made available for 12 Hungarian programmes.

Deputy foreign minister Torgeir Larsen and Ambassador Tove Skarstein visited this week the Burattino Elementary and Vocational School in the outskirts of Budapest. The school building and its equipment have been significantly upgraded thanks to the nearly 550 000 EUR they received from the Norway Grants in 2009-2010.

On 12 February, the NGO Fund, providing more than 11 million euros for Hungarian NGOs, was launched at a conference open to all interested participants. The 200 available seats in the Council of Europe’s Youth Centre in Budapest were filled within three days of opening registration.
